邀请信（Letters of Invitation Ⅰ）

邀请信（Letters of Invitation Ⅰ）是邀请亲朋好友或知名人士、专家等参加某项活动时所发的邀约性书信。在国际交往以及日常的各种社交活动中，这类书信使用广泛。英文邀请信分为两种。

一、 一般邀请信

一般邀请信通常适用于一些平常的事情的邀请，而且邀请人同被邀请人之间很熟悉。 一般邀请信具有简短、热情的特点。格式一般分为：

第一， 说明与收信人的相关性与写作意图。

第二， 具体交代情景：包括受邀请的人、邀请朋友干什么、地点以及具体的时间等内容。

并且强调为什么邀请收信人而不是别的朋友。

第三， 表示期待朋友的回复。

二、 请柬（Invitation Card）

这是一种正式的邀请信。

请柬的格式严谨而固定。一般适用于较庄重严肃的场合。格式一般为：

第一， 说明邀请对方参加什么活动、邀请的原因是什么。

第二， 将活动安排的细节及注意事项告诉对方。诸如时间、地点、参加人员、人数，做些

什么样的准备及所穿的服饰等。

第三， 为了方便安排活动，如有必要，可注明请对方予以回复能否应邀及还有哪些要求等。 Sample 2(Informal):

写请柬时的注意事项：

●邀请人和被邀请人要用第二人称，参加活动的时间地点也要写得清楚明确。

●希望被邀请人收到请柬后给予答复的，则须在请柬上注明R.S.V.P 或 r.s.v.p 字样，意为“请答复”。有时为了方便联系，可留下自己的电话号码或地址。

●对参加活动的人有什么具体要求可简单的在请柬上注明，比如对服装的要求，要求穿礼服时，须在请柬的右下角注明Dress: Formal; 较随意时可用：Dress: Informal 。

一、邀请信及复信 ( Letters of Invitations and Acknowledgments)

邀请信包括宴会邀请、午餐和晚餐邀请、聚会邀请、舞会邀请、婚礼邀请等。邀请信分为两种：一种是正规的格式（formal correspondence）,也叫做请柬；一种是非正规的格式 （informal correspondence）, 也就是一般的邀请信。 邀请信虽然看起来不象请柬那样正规、庄重，但是，也是很讲就的。写好邀请信，需注意以下几个问题： 1. 邀请信一定要写得明确、完整，不可给收信人留下任何疑问。如: “ I’d like you and Tom to come to dinner next Wednesday.” 这样的写法就不够明确，需要加上具体的日期和时间。该句应写成: “I’d like you and Tom to come to dinner on Wednesday, June 14, at seven o’clock .”

2. 在欧美国家，夜晚的邀请，除了那些只允许男人参加的社交活动之外，不论是正式的，还是非正式的，都应该邀请夫妻双方参加。

3. 别人对你的邀请是对你的尊重，因此，无论能否赴约，都应该给与及时的、有礼貌的答复。

4. 对于邀请信，在复信时应该明确地说明是接受邀请, 还是不能接受邀请。不能使用模棱两可的话。如: “ I’ll try my best to come.” “ I’ll come if I’m in town.” 等等，那样会使邀请人感到十分不安，应该明确说明去还是不去，以便让邀请人早做安排。

5. 接受邀请时，在回信时要重复写上邀请信中的某些内容，如: 几月几日、星期几、几点钟等等。不应该这样写：“ I’ll be delighted to attend your luncheon?” ，而应该写成： “ I’ll be delighted to attend your luncheon on Thursday, May tenth, at one o’clock.” 这样写，可以纠正你或邀请人可能弄错了的日期和时间。

I’m very sorry to have to write you this letter! After accepting your kind invitation for dinner on Tuesday, May the fifth, I now find that we cannot be there after all.
