《喧哗与骚动》读后感

威廉·福克纳的《喧哗与骚动》,作者是诺贝尔文学奖的获得者,我竟未曾有闻,井底之蛙,浅陋立显。

同一部小说,有人对作者的艺术技法条分缕析;有人从时代背景及作者的祖宗八代解构故事诞生的必然因素;有人像杜撰明星八卦一样猜测人物的原型及可能的含沙射影;还有人拿它与别的小说做一番可有可无的比较。这几者,当属于职业评论家之流。

而我读小说,仅限于故事本身和语言文字。如同欣赏美人,不宜用手持手术刀的医生的眼光;欣赏美景,不宜用科学家解释眼睛成像的方法。

初读《喧哗与骚动》,感觉很陌生,甚至有些吃力。故事竟然可以这样组织的。后来才知道这种写法叫做“意识流”。

小说中的这个家庭,让人感觉不到温馨的气氛,尤其是病恹恹的怨天尤人的母亲,看不出她对四个孩子一丁点儿的关心和爱。

而父亲不善治家,嗜酒贪杯,读了许多书,受几本古希腊人书籍的影响而无比消极,他的消极影响了长子昆丁。次子杰生是一只冷血动物,他当着黑奴小孩的面将巡回乐团演出的门票扔进壁炉烧坏,也不肯送给这个对演出十分向往的可怜巴巴的孩子。女儿凯蒂和黑人女佣迪尔西是给这座房子带来一点温情和阳光的两点火种。前者虽然风流成性,从她对痴呆小弟的态度上看,她比徒有大家闺秀外表的母亲强多少倍。黑人迪尔西,她那种黑人特有的博大的爱,在作者笔下,简直像一个高尚的修女或者崇高的圣徒。

最让人难忘的,当然还是小说的语言。有一些诗一样跳动的语句,片面夸大了事物的某一方面的特征,而恰如其分的烘托了当时的气氛,表达了复杂了心情,或者突出了某种细腻的感官感受。

在《喧哗与骚动》各人物中,康普生太太的儿子班吉,这个《喧哗与骚动》里的白痴是一个值得关注的人物。塑造班吉这个人物时。福克纳只能对人类感到悲哀,感到可怜。

对班吉那是谈不上有什么感情的,因为这个人物本身并没有感情。福克纳曾经说:“对于这个人物本身我只有一个想法,就是有些担心,不知我把他塑造得是否可信。他不过是个作开场白的演员,好比伊丽莎白时代戏剧里的掘墓人一样。他完成了任务就下场了。”班吉谈不上好也谈不上歹,以为他根本就不懂得好歹。他的理智不健全,他连自私都不懂。他是一头动物,他不是感受不到温情与爱意,不过就是感受到了也讲不出名堂来。他发觉凯蒂变了样以后,正式因为温情与爱意受到了威胁,所以才咆哮如雷。他失去了凯蒂,可是因为他是个白痴,所以连凯蒂已经失踪了都没有理会。他只知道出了什么问题,只落得剩下一片空虚,使他感到伤心。他要设法填补这片空虚。他除了凯蒂丢弃的一只拖鞋以外什么也没有。这只拖鞋就寄托着他的温情与爱意,当然这几个字他是说不上来的,他只知道这说不出的东西已经没有了。他之所以弄得肮里肮脏,一是因为他脑子不管用,二是因为他觉得肮脏也无所谓。他个分不出好歹,也辩不出肮脏和干

Many people in the world are trying to find a perfect companion.Some of these may marry and not know what their new husband or wife is like.This kind of situation often leads to separation or hostility. Other situations may develop between two friends that stem from jealousy, desire for revenge, uncaring parents, etc. Emily Bront?'s Wuthering Heights displays several characteristics of destructive relationships. Three of these are uncaring parents, marriage without knowing the person, and jealousy.

Uncaring or unsympathizing parents are shown throughout this story to be an element of destructive relationships. Because Heathcliff gained all the attention from Mr. Earnshaw, Hindley became disassociated from his father. This separation continued until after Mr. Earnshaw had died.Another example is between Hindley and Hareton. Hindley became such a drunk and a gambler that he could not properly care for young Hareton. This led to a separation between Hareton and his father as well. One primary example of an uncaring parent is shown between Heathcliff and his son Linton.Heathcliff did not even want his son for anything except enacting a part of his revenge. This is shown by Linton's fear of Heathcliff and Heathcliff's enmity toward his son. Linton even says "... my father threatened me, and I dread him - I dread him!"(244) to express his feeling about Heathcliff.The hostility and separation between father and son in this book shows that uncaring parents can cause serious damage in relationships with their children.

Like so many American writers, Faulkner found himself again and again writing short stories, some of which are considered as equally important as his best novels. Good as his short stories are, they seem always at the threshold of being absorbed into the Yoknapatawpha saga — that legendary matrix which is Faulkner’s real achievement. However, for a beginner of Faulkner scholarship, his short stories may well be an easy start. “A Rose for Emily” is Faulkner’s first short story published in 1930. Set in the town of Jefferson in Yoknopatawpha, the story focuses on Emily Grierson, an eccentric spinster who refuses to accept the passage of time, or the inevitable change and loss that accompanies it. Simple as it is in plot, the story is

pregnant with meaning. As a descendent of the Southern aristocracy, Emily is typical of those in Faulkner’s Yoknapatwapha stories who are the symbols of the Old South but the prisoners of the past. In this story, Faulkner makes best use of the Gothic devices in narration, and, the deformed personality and abnormality Emily demonstrates in her relationship with her sweetheart is dramatized in such a way that we feel shocked and thrilled as we read along.
