篇二 :The Kite Runner英文读后感

The Kite Runner

The Kite Runner was written by Khaled Hosseini, an Afghan. It tells the story of Amir, a well-to-do Pashtun boy from the Wazir Akbar Khan district of Kabul, who was haunted by the guilt of betraying his childhood friend Hassan, the son of his father's Hazara servant.

Twelve year old Amir was desperate to win the approval of his father, one of the richest and most respected merchants in Kabul. He had failed to do so through academia, but the one area where they connected was the annual kite fighting tournament. Amir was determined not just to win the competition but to run the last kite and brought it home successfully, to prove to his father that he had the ability of a man. His loyal friend Hassan was the best kite runner that Amir had ever seen, and he promised to help him - for Hassan always helped Amir out of trouble. But Hassan was a Shi'a Muslim and this was 1970s Afghanistan. Hassan was taunted and jeered at by Amir's school friends; he was merely a servant living in a shack at the back of Amir's house.

篇三 :the Scarlet Letter读后感英文

What I Learned From the Scarlet Letter

专业: 姓名: 学号: 成绩:

Abstract: this paper is to talk the female character in the scarlet letter. It

describes the whole story at the first section, then the character analysis. And it explains the symbol of the letter “A” which appears all the time. Well it finishes with the standpoint of its author, which refers to me. Wish you be delighted reading my essay. Thank you!

In an eternal semester’s Anglo-American movie classes, I’ve appreciated many classical novels. What impressed me most is the first movie we watch called the scarlet letter.

First, the story begins in seventeenth-century Boston, and that is in a

Puritan settlement. A young woman, Hester Prynne, is led from the town prison with her infant daughter, Pearl in her arms and the scarlet letter “A” on her breast. Hester’s husband, a scholar much older than she is, sent her ahead to America, but he never arrived in Boston. The consensus is that he has been lost at sea. While waiting for her husband, Hester has apparently had an affair, as she has given birth to a child. She will not reveal her lover’s identity. Several years pass. Hester supports herself by working as a seamstress, and Pearl grows into a willful, impish child. When Dimmesdale acknowledge Hester’s child publicly the other day, a meteor marks a dull red “A” in the night sky.

篇五 :The Adventures of Tom Sawyer英文读后感

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer

Recently I read a book which is called “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer”.It is one of the best known novels by the famous American writerMark Twain. It is a story of a clever boy called Tom Saywer.

Tom Sayweris a naughty boy, he does not like study in the school or get up in the morning. Which he likes are fishing, swimming and having adventures with friends. His adventures are interesting but dangerous.

I think it is Tom Saywerthat made the book become a classic work. Tom is a naughty boy, and he is a brave boy, too. He always encourages his friends when they are in trouble. And he always tries his best to help other people. He is a hero in some degree. Form this story, I realized that we are supposed to be kind and we should help our friends. Or we will be punished by God ,just like InjunJoe, who starves to death in the cave.

篇六 :The old man and the sea 老人与海 读后感(英文)

The Old Man and the Sea is one of the most famous fictions of Hemingway. It created a dauntless man whose name was Santiago. He had fished on the sea and, after 48 days without any harvest , Santiago eventually caught a vast marlin which the old man had never seen like this (longer than his junk) in his life. No doubt, the strong fish struggled and tried to flee, it had dragged that junk for two days. Santiago had experience a test that he tried to tame this marlin and he consumed all of his strength in killing this fish, suffered from pain. Finally, he did it. However, while Santiago bolted the fish onto the prow, several sharks attacked him and stole two thirds of the fish. When he arrived the jetty, what he had gained was only a marlin’s skeleton. What made me surprised was the defective end. At the beginning, I thought this story would probably like this: Santiago had fished on the sea and had pained a lot, finally he came back with a big fish. But how could this make Hemingway the owner of The Nobel Prize in literature of 1954? I think just the end attracts readers. Santiagohad said “A man can get destroyed but is so not defedinedd” Even though Santiago didn’t bring the whole fish , but only skeleton. However, this is no more important, this old man had once paid lots of effort to catch his dream, offered his blood, toil, sweat. Never mind who is the winner, the value of Santiago’s life has totally been seen when he tried to tame the fish. Perhaps, this is what Hemingway aimed to. Everyone has his own shortcoming, not to surrender, but to strive. Whatever how the end is, no pain no gain.
