Happy Love is Grasped by Women Themselves

Pride and Prejudice, the masterpiece of Jane Austen, presents readers 4 kinds of loves and marriages, using the up-and-down love story caused by pride and prejudice between Elizabeth and Darcy as link. In the work, Darcy was gradually attracted by Elizabeth, but because of his pride and cool face and Elizabeth’s prejudice to him learning from others, they didn’t have a chance to exchange their true feelings and got a deep understanding. We could gain many understandings throughout the book, for example, knowledge-equipped independent and good-mannered women worth more appreciating and admiring, so women should not be trapped by the traditional rules and come for self-consciousness. But the dominant thesis, I think, the author want to express is that class distinction should not be a hindrance for the pursuit of personal love and happiness and women should fight for their independent dignity and equal rights.

Book Report of Pride and Prejudice

Recently, I read through “Pride and Prejudice” which written by a well-known English writer----Jane Austen. Austen was born in the countryside, so she didn’t go to any normal schools. But she really read widely instructed by her father who was the local parson. During that period of time, Austen was regarded as the first author to realistically describe the common characters in common life.“It is a truth well known to all the world that an unmarried man in possession of a large fortune must be in need of a wife.” With these lines, a classical novel about the value of the love begins. This writing pictures four marriages in Bennet’s family, and the primary one was between Elizabeth and Darcy. And later on, Darcy proposed to her with regardlessness to the gap of the wealth and class. But Elizabeth unmercifully refused him by misunderstanding his represented extreme pride which was just a reflection of the high-class. After a long-term observation of his behaviors, Elizabeth was finally loyal to her own heart. “Pride and prejudice” was superficially a love comedy. But it actually explained that only by action and introspection can have the hope and the true love; and also the dignity of a person which was as well built up by action and introspection was not inherent. Just as Austen herself said, this novel was sculpted on the two-inch ivory, which exquisitely reflects the conservative life in England of these days. This writing, to some extent, expresses the author’s marriage view: It is wrong to get married for the property, money and position as well; and also it is foolish if you do not consider the above-mentioned factures. So she objected to getting married for money as well as regarding it as something unimportant. She emphasized the importance of the ideal marriage and regarded the true love as its foundation stone. Pride and prejudice were two weaknesses in our humanity which was easily distorted. And in the way of pursuing love, we should not be controlled by these shortages, but to keep our own faiths and feelings. Whether the marriage is a happiness one depended on whether they truly love and know each other. Falling in love at first sight is indeed more romantic than the long-term love. But we can not deny the fact the long-term coexistence will surely bring both of you to a better understanding and a deeper affection. So now, as for us to do is to strive for the hope with correct attitude towards pride and prejudice.

The Pride and Prejudice

The Pride and Prejudice is written by George Austen. The story is mainly about 4 marriages in the UK in 18th.The most important part of cause is the love and hate between the actress Elizabeth Banat and the actor William Darcy. Elizabeth is a middle class woman who is beautiful, intelligent, strong and also courageous in pursuing true love. The clue of the story is mainly about Elizabeth’s attitude to Mr. Darcy. At the beginning is hate then to respect and at last tune to love. It has also added in several happy or unhappy marriages around her, which reveals the author's ideal of love and hope for the women who live in that era.

The heroine, Elizabeth, first feels Darcy is incurring dislike because of his pride and then she takes prejudice on him. The hero, Darcy, is an unpopularity arrogant man. He doesn't care about the cold interpersonal relationship around him. To him, he thinks his pride is a matter of cause, but the prejudice is ruthless. All of this makes the unavoidable conflict between the heroine and the hero. The pride and prejudice has made it an unhappy beginning with the misunderstanding between the two people, and cause the dispute. But after the clarification of all the events, both of them had grew a little affection to each other gradually. At the beginning, they had both driven by their emotions. Darcy represents the" pride" and Elizabeth represents the "prejudice". Then a lot of unfavorable rumors made Elizabeth become more disgusted with Darcy. But when Darcy is rejected by Elizabeth about asked her to marry him, he doesn’t change his arrogant disposition to please Elizabeth. Elizabeth also showed a true representation, each of them did not hide the true self but show the real side. At the beginning, Elizabeth has been lived in her prejudice, taking the rumor about Darcy without thinking about the rights and wrongs. After Darcy's interpretation, Elizabeth takes the right judgment and finally found her happiness. Pride and prejudice are the common weaknesses and problems to us. All of us are easy to be driven by our subjective impression and make incorrect annotations for others, then causing the misunderstanding between each other. A person’s first impression can affect a lot of things, but it does not mean it will never change. Everything is changing for the understanding little by little in order to have a more objective point, just as Elizabeth’s view on Darcy in the story is changing because of the understanding.

Impressions of Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is Jane Austen's masterpiece. The writer’s sharp observation of social lives makes the style of this book surprisingly mature and lively. Through neat humor and satirical touch, Austen perfectly reflected the

relation between money and marriage at her time and gave the people in her works vivid characters.

The story is simple but impressive: Mrs.Bennet had five daughters, and marrying all her daughters was her biggest wish .In a genteel ball, Mr. Bingley , a friendly young man, also the host, fell in love with Jane at first sight.Jane was Mrs.Bennet 's first daughter who was simple, pure and never speaks evil of others. Darcy ,who was Bingley 's good friend ,a very proud man who seemed to always feel superior, was fond of Jane’s sister,Elizabeth. But his arrogance behavior and the smear from Wickham led Elizabeth to misunderstand and was biassed against Darcy .Darcy couldn't restrain himself from loving Elizabeth ,so he proposed to her.But his attitude was still so arrogant ,Elizabeth declined firmly. This hit made

篇七 :Pride and Prejudice 读后感

Pride and Prejudice

Last week, I watched a movie called “Pride and Prejudice”, I found that I have a lonqing to be the major actor- Elizabeth. Why? Here are my feelings.

Pride and Prejudice is an excellent screen film rearrangement of Jane Austen’s 1813 novel, which is directed by Robert Z. Lenard. It follows a provincial family’s struggles to marry off five daughters in 19th century England. The story tells that Mr. and Mrs. Bennet have five unmarried daughters, and Mrs. Bennet is especially eager to find suitable husbands for them. When the rich single gentlemen Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy come to live nearby, the Bennets have high hopes. But pride, prejudice, and misunderstandings all combine to complicate their relationships and to make happiness difficult. In the whole story, Mrs. Bennet's eldest daughter, a witty and independent young woman, is somewhat less impressed upon meeting Mr. Darcy, whom she finds arrogant and supercilious as he voices his prejudice against the middle class. On the other hand, Elizabeth's sister Jane is enchanted by Charles, who begins to court her, much to the disapproval of Caroline and Mr. Darcy. Elizabeth's dislike of Darcy is intensified when George Wickham, a boyhood friend of Darcy's, confides that his old friend has betrayed him. Elizabeth's opinion of the Bingleys and Darcy seems justified when Charles breaks Jane's heart by leaving for London without an explanation. Elizabeth meets Darcy again when she goes to visit her friend Charlotte, who has just married Mr. Collins, an employee of Darcy's aunt, Lady Catherine de Bourgh. At dinner that night, Darcy confides to Elizabeth tAhat he has fallen in love with her and wants to marry her, but couches the proposal in condescending terms towards her family, and so Elizabeth refuses him. She returns home to find that her sister Lydia has run off with Wickham and the family is in disgrace. Hearing of the incident, Darcy offers to help, and confides in Elizabeth that Wickham betrayed his sister years earlier. Darcy's vulnerability forces Elizabeth to realize that she has fallen in love with him, but her pride prevents her from telling him. Just as the Bennets are about to leave town, Lydia returns with news that she and Wickham are married, thus restoring the family honor. As the family rejoices, Lady Catherine appears and, after ordering Elizabeth never to see Darcy again, informs her that Darcy has paid Wickham to marry Lydia. Catherine's interrogation clarifies Elizabeth's love for Darcy, and he returns to her just as Charles returns to Jane, and all ends happily.

Pride and Prejudice

1

At the sight of the title of <Pride and Prejudice>, I thought it was a book about some bald theories on these two kinds of attitude. And yet, it is a story.

Fitzwilliam Darcy is the main male protagonist. Twenty-eight years old and unmarried, Darcy is the wealthy owner of the famous family estate of Pemberley in Derbyshire. Handsome, tall, and intelligent, but not convivial, his aloof decorum and moral rectitude is seen by many as an excessive pride and concern for social status. Elizabeth Bennet is the main female protagonist. The second of the Bennet daughters at twenty years old, she is intelligent, lively, attractive, and witty, which are the characters we all appreciate. However, she also has a tendency to judge on first impressions and perhaps to be a little selective of the evidence upon which she bases her judgments, which made her misunderstand Mr. Darcy at the very beginning. Prejudice makes one blind and may hurt someone else.
