1.

Success, as is known, is the pursuit of many ambitious people. It requires much of a person.

In my above all, one should be a person of strong perseverance. Rome was not built in a day. On our long way to success, there are undoubtedly many difficulties standing in the way. If we lose heart and give up

halfway, nothing can be achieved. Throughout history, we havehad many famous successful people in the world, of whom no one is weak-minded. Take the great American scientist Edison as an example, he tried experiment after experiment and had one failure after another before he finally invented the bulb, which lighted up the whole world. So we can conclude perseverance can surely be one of the secrets of success. Furthermore, one needs to work hard to realize his dream just as the famous saying goes “Hard work leads to success”.

Honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen,

Good evening. It’s my great pleasure to stand here to present my speech.

What I am going to talk about today is the road to success.

There is no doubt that everyone wants to achieve success. Me either. But what is success and how can we succeed? In my opinion, success is just like climbing mountains. If you want to reach the top of the mountain, you have to keep climbing up step by step and overcome all the difficulties during the way. There is no easy way to climb up without paying. Likewise, there is no elevator to success, you have to take stairs.

I’m sure you guys have all tried doing a lot of new things. Whether it’s learning a new instrument , or learning a new language. You know , everyone who tells you that the stuff is easy that you can do it overnight is clearly wrong. Everything that is worth doing is pretty hard.  I mean, you guys know that firsthand from your experience. In order to master piano, you have to practice scales everyday to strengthen your fingers no matter how boring it is; to learn a foreign language well, you have to start with the very basics and learn step by step. All these achievements, you know, it’s not about a single moment of inspiration or brilliance, it’s about years and years of hard work and practice. When it comes to success, there are no shortcuts.

dear all,

experience makes you succeedi still remembered the first time when i became a technical secondary school teacher of english literature. it seemed that it happened yesterday.

at that day, i got quite ready and i had the confidence to be a good teacher. i arrived at the classroom, eager to share my knowledge and experience with all the students of my class. having prepared for two days, i had no doubt to hold their attention and to impress on them my admiration for the literature.

“stand up!” the monitor spoke loudly. the entire class stood up as i entered the classroom. i was a little puzzled, but quickly that awkwardness was over, i regained my calmness and began my well-prepared lecture, sure to gain their respect--- or even their

admiration. ‘i’m your english, miss jiang. today we are going to learn . . . ’ i was very pleased with work . as the bell rang, i went back to my office full of a sense of achievement. the following day when i read my students’ diaries, the rosy glow was gradually replaced by a strong sense of sadness. the first diary said, “our literature teacher didn’t teach us anything today. perhaps her next lecture would be better.” greatly surprised, i read diary after diary, each expressed a similar theme. “didn’t i teach them

My Definition of Success

“Once upon a time, there was a king who had a daughter as beautiful as a blooming rose. To all the suitors who came to the king's palace to ask for the hand of the princess, the old king assigned three tasks to be accomplished, each next to impossible. One day, into the king's palace came a handsome young prince..."

Well, you know the rest. The three tasks may be different in different versions, but the main plot is always the same, with the prince claiming the princess's hand

triumphantly. And the ending is always the same, finishing with the line "And they live happily every after."

Why aren't we tired of something so fanciful, so unrealistic, and, I would say, so

unimaginative? How can a story like that endure generations of repetition`? Because, I think, it is a typical success story. It is highly philosophical and symbolic. By
