Book report of Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is one of Jane Austen's representative works.This book is considered as the treasure of the world library and is one of the world's ten great classics.The author Jane Austen is a famous British female novelist.She established a new style in her novels. Her novels always sarcastically uncover people's ridiculous weakness through comic scenes.In the book Pride and Prejudice,Jane Austen described the daily life of rural middleclass and the rural scenery,and on this background,she narrated a circuitous moving love story besides filled with wisdom.

Character images in this book are rich and colorfull.Mrs Bennet is greedy and admire vanity,making her each daughter married is her only expectation all her life.Mr Bennet is a family-ariented old gentleman,indifferen to fame and wealth and like reading silently.The eldest daughter Jane is beautiful,gentle and quiet.The second daughter Elizabeth is generous,intelligent and beautiful.The third daughter Mary is not so beautiful as his sisters but is dilligent in study,and this lead to his arrogant attitude.The fourth daughter Kitty like dancing and is always discourtesy but herself isn't aware of.Their little daughter Lydia is very foolish and enjoys dancing and making fun with millitary officer.The main male role Fitzwilliam Darcy is a serious man and poor at his words.He always gives people the impression of arrogance and pride,however he is warmhearted inward.His friend Charles Bingley is a gentle,honest and generous rich man. George Wickham is handsome and gentle,but in fact ,he is a despicable man and owes a lot of money because of gamble.

BOOK INTRODUCTION

Pride and Prejudice is one of the representative works of Jane Austen, first published in 1813. It's very popular among modern readers, continuing near the top of lists of most loved books and has been produced into movie form. The latest movie version of 20xx won over 100 million booking office.

The author ,Jane Austen，English writer, was the seventh of eight children and she was born in the village of Steventon in Hampshire in 1775 and died in 1817. Jane Austen accept her education at home and begin to write at her early age. Austen was widely read in her lifetime,and wrote many novels.In 1793,Jane Austen began to write Elinor and Marianne,a novel later reworked into Sense and Sensibility.Three years later,she wrote first Impressions,which was an early version of her masterpiece Pride and Prejudice.In 1797,she wrote Susan, later it become Northanger Abbey. In 1811, she wrote Mansfield Park.She wrote Emma in 1814 and Persuasion in 1816. Clarity, economy, skillful, use of dialogue and tight plotting are the main features of Jane Austen's style.There is always a neat, round and rather satisfying completeness to her plots. Besides, she is possessed of a neat humor and a satirical touch.

Pride and Prejudice is one of the representative works of Jane Austen, first published in 1813. Though the story's setting is characteristically turn-of-the-19th-century, it retains a fascination for modern readers, continuing near the top of lists of 'most loved books.

Jane Austen，English writer, who first gave the novel its modern character through the treatment of everyday life. Although Austen was widely read in her lifetime, she published her works anonymously. The most urgent preoccupation of her bright, young heroines is courtship and finally marriage. Austen herself never married. Her best-known books include PRIDE AND PREJUDICE (1813) and EMMA (1816). Virginia Woolf called Austen "the most perfect artist among women."

My opinion about Pride and Prejudice

This was Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy's reply when Ms. Elizabeth Bennet asked him when he fell in love with her.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen had put my left out dictionary into good use. I have to admit, I was very slow in the first pages. However, nearing the end, I was like a driver going at 100mph, eager to reach the finish line.

At the first pages, I have to admit that I have read little books in English before, because I was frustrated for Jane Austen had called her characters Miss Bennet, and I must duly mention that there are five Miss Bennets. And the using of various nicknames confused me more. I thought Elizabeth and Eliza and Lizzy are different persons. So, I put a book guide into good use as well.

Reading Report of Pride and Prejudice

Before reading Pride and Prejudice，I simply regarded it as a love story，however，after reading，I found that it is an illustration of the society of Britain in 18th century。

First of all，let me introduce the author of this book 。Jane Austen who was one of the most famous female writer in Britain even in the whole world。Although Austen was only 21 when she wrote Pride and Prejudice，her sharp observation of lives made the whole book mature and lively。She perfectly reflected the relationship between money and marriage at her time and gave vivid characters in her book。Today，Pride and Prejudice still can be one of the guides telling us the relationship between money and marriage both at her time and modern time。

Secondly，let me introduce the main plot and characters in that book。Novel through four marriage to elaborate the relationship between money and marriage。I think Mr.Bennet is a hidden man.。For example，when his wife asking him to pay a visit to Mr.Bingley，he seems unwilling to do that，however，he early did in fact。Mrs.Bennet is a neurotic vanity and shortsighed woman。There is nothing important than marring off her five daughters。

《傲慢与偏见》是简·奥斯汀的代表作。故事发生在一个闭塞的乡村小镇：小乡绅班纳特先生有5个女儿，而班纳特太太生活中的头等大事就是为他的5个女儿找到合适的丈夫。为此，她整天东跑西窜，忙个不停，但是她们住的地方太偏僻，一时找不到合适的人选。就在这个时候，两个单身、富有而且英俊的绅士来到这里度假。这两个人的到来，不亚于在平静的水面上投下了一块巨石。到底班纳特太太能不能如愿以偿、顺顺利利地把自己的五个女儿嫁出去呢？作者用诙谐幽默的语言，向我们讲述了一桩曲折的姻缘。结局大大出乎班纳特太太、邻居和亲戚们的意料，带有一股轻喜剧的味道。

这本书，在高中时已经接触过了。只是当时只是看到了男女主角之间的感情纠葛，起起落落的心情，让人沉浸在其中，几年之后，再次翻阅，别有一番风味。

班纳特家有五个女儿均未出嫁；而班纳特太太又是一个神经质虚荣心十足的女人，将每个女儿嫁出去是她这一生唯一的大事，可她却从不费心管教女儿的举止；而班纳特先生是个顾家的老绅士，却放任妻子和女儿的不得体行为，宁愿躲进图书室寻求平静。

直到有一天，班纳特家附近的搬来了一个单身男子彬格

莱·查尔斯，他是一个个性温和、做人真诚不拘小节的富家青年，偶然在一个宴会彬格莱却恋上了班纳特家的大女儿简，并与简·班纳特相互爱慕；而彬格莱的好朋友达西·费茨威廉个性拘谨严肃，不善言词常给人自大傲慢的印象，在不知不觉中喜欢上班纳特家的二女儿伊莉沙白，但是因为班纳特一家本身并不是得体的家族令这两段恋情受到障碍，伊莉沙白一开始就对傲慢的达西存有偏见，这部书主要就是描述他们这段关系的转变过程。

读《傲慢与偏见》

《傲慢与偏见》是我一个朋友托我买英文版的时候，自己也看了，因为这算是经典中的经典了。

小说不仅在文字和语言风格上令读者沉迷与陶醉，更以其严谨的结构、饱满的人物形象，深刻的心理描写，以及引人入胜的爱情故事，吸引读者步步深入，逐渐进入小说的美妙世界。

《傲慢与偏见》是世界上流传最广最久的文学名著之一，是奥斯丁最为世人喜爱的作品。小说的主题是爱情与婚姻，主要着墨于伊丽莎白和达西，两人性格迥异，达西总给人傲慢的感觉，伊丽莎白由于听信别人的中伤而对达西存有偏见。在互相交往中，达西爱上了聪明的伊丽莎白，他抛弃门第偏见追求她。而伊丽莎白了解到事实真相，消除误会后，发现了达西的善良与高贵。两人不同的性格正好形成互补，最终他们喜结连理。

这是部浪漫又现实的爱情。爱情没有浪漫就失去其美好的色彩了。但是小说中种种关于门当户对，以及财富对婚姻的考量却充斥其中。

伊丽莎白为自己家人的行为给自己带来的影响万分懊恼，达西也因此劝宾利先生离开 简，后来自己也是在理智与情感较量之后万分矛盾地向伊丽莎白吐露心事。所以说什么是爱情？那种纯粹的感情，爱的不顾一切，单纯的洁白如雪的爱情是不是真如镜中花水中月，是不是只不过是人们心中的美好幻想和追求罢了，而现实生活中人们总是寻找二者之间的最佳平衡点。

伊丽莎白在知道威克姆的真实面目前对其充满好感，她的姨妈却说这样的青年托付终身不会幸福，因为他没有财产没有稳定收入，伊丽莎白接受这样的看法，并且主动克制了自己的感情，呵呵这样并没有给伊丽莎白抹黑，只会让我们看到一个真实理智的伊丽莎白，聪明理智的姑娘。

达西继承祖业，生活无忧无虑，在上流社会里也是受人尊敬，在那样的地位，一切的美德都不为过，慷慨大方，助人为善，这些东西无助与对他形象的丰富，对他倒是没什么评价。

丽萃的聪明在于自我意识强烈，她明确的知道自己喜欢什么，讨厌什么，该做什么，不该做什么。所以，她在适合的场合优雅，在不适合的场合机智。我当年看了3遍BBC的电视剧，最喜欢的镜头有两个：一个是她步行了很远去宾格来先生的庄园看望生病的姐姐，在快到的地方碰到了一只大狗，她愉快和与它玩耍。那时达西先生正好站在窗边看到这一幕，眼光便久久的不能离开。她的率性和自我讨好得到了达西先生的认可，很明显，他仰慕那个自得其乐的她。而另一个镜头是达西小姐弹钢琴的时候，宾格来小姐为了讽刺丽萃提到了威廉姆，达西小姐心理一紧，琴声戛然而止，连达西先生都忍不住脸色大变。这个时候丽萃迅速的走了过了微笑的道歉，她说是我忘了给你翻琴谱害你不能弹下去，语气自然，态度得体，一方面安稳的达西小姐的慌张，另一方面解决了达西先生的忧虑。那一瞬间达西的表情变化很值得回味，他看着丽萃的眼神，充满了激赏，然后马上的，是无与伦比的喜爱。
