Nevertheless, the professor believes that the committee was not objective at all. Firstly, it was writed by his friends. What’s more, the investigation only msintained for two days and they can get precise conclusion in such a short time. So the committee is biased.

In addition, the reading states that the English explorer Tom Avery has proved the truth that the Rorbot E Peary could reach the north pole within 37 days. On the contrary, the professor argues against that there are many distinguishment between the Rorbot and Tom, because at that time, Rorbot had no food and met the most server weather, which will make them late to reach the north pole.

On the contrary, because of the low living standre, parents in the past only think how to bring chilren up and let them survive, so there is no time for them to have such ambitions. In the reading material, the author gives three reasons to prove the truth that Peary had reached the North Pole. However, in the listening part, the professor claims that the reasons mentioned in the reasing are not convincing at all.

First, the writer says that the committee declared that Peary had indeed reached the North Pole. The professor adimits that the committee had declared that, but it cannot prove anything. He says that the committee was not objective. It was composed of Peary's friends and Peary was one of the donators. And the investigation had lasted just two days. So the evidence from the committee is not convincing.

What's more, it is mentioned in the reading material that Tom Avery had reached the North Pole in less time than Peary did with the same conditions, which could prove that it was possible that Peary had reached the North Pole. The speaker refutes that claim by pointing out that Avery didn't carry many things as Peary did. The food for Avery were dropped by airplane. And the weather condition of Avery's trip was better than that of Peary. So it cannot prove that Peary had been to the North Pole.

First, genetic modification doesn’t necessarily make a natural tree more resistant to environmental adversities. Although genetic reconstructing may make a species stronger in a specific condition as the reading indicates, the new strain lakes the genetic diversity of a natural species. Thanks to the marginal differences between individuals, there can always be some survivors among natural species following a large

interruption like climate change or pest invasion. But similar changes may cause the distinction of a genetically modified species for their unification in characteristics.

First, the professor argues in the lecture that the fire enhanced the diversity of vegetation in Yellowstone Park, even though the reading passage suggests that Yellowstone fires caused tremendous damage to the park's trees and other vegetation. This is because that the fire has created a opportunity for some new plants to grow, for instance, the small plants which needed open un-shaded area and the seeds which demanded high levels of heat to germinate, which means that the small vegetations would had a better environment after the large trees had been destroyed.
